    Default Map of Thyandul (Sarturus)

Hey Guild! I've not been so active lately on the forum as I decided create a new map but take it very slowly. I spent many hours on this but it was the most enjoyable map making experience yet and so far I think this is the map of which I'm most proud.

One of the reasons I pulled out all the stops on the map of Thyandul is because, although there may be future versions, it's one of the most important maps I will ever create. Though yet to be fully fleshed out, the names and meaning behind the map of Thyandul stem from ideas and world building that has evolved over almost a decade. Thyandul, homeland of the Turinath under Emporer Xanturi Ahk'taurus sits within central Ulthui in the world of Sarturus.

You can visit my DeviantArt journal for a look at work in progress versions.

I put a lot into this map but I think it paid off. I hope you like it and any comments or rep is greatly appreciated! Cheers!

I think it is really well done. I know some people prefer much brighter colour schemes but I'm quite fond of the opposite. What is special about Ertharu Forest? The colour scheme is very close to that of the water which makes me think it is a bit dank and perhaps marshy in places.

I don't actually think it's that dark. The leaves of the trees in Ertharu are blue.

Edit: 1 reply so far. I don't know what has happened to people or why they feel so reluctant to give feedback ever since my Ganithes map. I have some theories, but I'll wait and see how this plays out. People make freaking clip art maps that get more feedback than what I'm getting. Ridiculous.

Ertharu forest exhibits its own distinct forest ecosystem and there are centuries of lore and culture behind this part of Thyandul. The reason for its blue colour stems from the fact that a tree (Axune - Ah-xoon-ae) highly revered and significant to Turinath culture grows there. It's one of the more magical elements to our low fantasy story. It is also home to the great city of Xanturion, known of old as Andulion. I'll go into more detail later on if you'd like.

Great map, Sarithus! Glad to have worked on this with you.

    Hail.

Great map Sarithus, I really like the blue shade you have for the Ertharu Forest (as mentioned above). However, not so sure about the town labels you have over the forests, looks slightly like they are flying. I really like the frame you have around the title as well!

Have you considered that you might not get much feedback on this because it's summer, and most people are away on their vacation? That's probably the most plausible conclusion anyway. And if you really want more feedback, one idea is to show appreciation for what you get – and perhaps comment on other peoples work some more. Should do the trick

    Cheers,

Pretty much my thoughts. Also I wouldn't denigrate other people works, I think that won't help.

This said, nice map Sarithus. I especially enjoyed the frame, the clarity of the overall map and the coloring job. Terrain besides mountains and forests maybe looks a bit flat though and some forests edge looks a bit too regular.

I've seen everyone that is a regular poster on this forum come online since I've posted this map, so no, it's not because it's summer. How am I not grateful? Go look up my freaking posts. I don't reply to most threads nowadays because I was away for 2 weeks, don't you read? Also, why should I reply to people when all people do is derail my threads anyway? I've almost had it with this site, and I'm pretty close to just stopping posting because it's pointless now. 2 weeks I worked on this and because it's not overly colourful (like that's actually a bad thing, plenty of people post less colourful stuff than mine... THIS HAS COLOUR) and it looks a bit flat it's like it's not welcome here. Well guess what, it's better than most of the **** that's posted here. My hills are better than your hills on your Shire map, Max.

If you intend to **** everyone off here you are definitely one the right track.

    Aw jeez.

Sarithus, you're an incredibly talented artist but you have a hugely entitled attitude. No one owes you a critique. If people take time out of their lives to comment on your maps, that is a courtesy and you should be grateful for it. You have no right to dictate how others spend their time on the Guild. Many maps posted on the site don't get much feedback and many of them deserve it. Why should yours be different?

Furthermore, you've complained a few times when people don't respond in the way you want. Do you think that encourages people to interact with you? And now you're putting down other contributors. Again, do you think that will help you get the feedback you want?

    You need to chill, man.

Many maps that don't deserve feedback get it, while those that do don't. I'm past of the point of caring whether or not I'm encouraging people. They already decided awhile back that I wasn't worth the time, and I don't know the reason.
