October Entry: Frustheim

I thought I'd have a go at a monthly mapping challenge, hopefully I'll get time to complete it properly.

This is Frustheim, a cold, northern frontier town. I simply took the template and started messing with patterns and layer styles and this is was has sprung out (so far). This is an initial 'overview WIP' and I hope (given time) will progress into something reasonable.

What did you do to make the tracks/etc. in the snow?

I just used a thin hardish pen with a bevel layer style at 0% fill and then subsequently softened with a low opacity soft brush to give the track a random feel.

Hmmm, I've been toying with more of a 3D feel to the map this last day or so. This is only an overview of shape and form and still needs to be painted.

Thanks, I may have to try that on mine to see how it looks.

i really like that shading and lighting. some of the ridges look a little harsh, maybe there can be faults or other imperfections.

soooo did you scrap the frosty setting and go in another direction then?
