Hello Yooooyyy, welcome to the Guild!

I'll just copy the post our great and very helpful member chick has used on occasions like this one and point you in the right direction.
There is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

From there, go to Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!

Hello Jacob, Welcome to the Guild!

Since wired has posted my usual welcome, I'll just add that none of us were born knowing how to make nice maps, so don't be afraid to jump in and try it out. I'm sure you'll learn fast and if you follow a few tutorials to get started, I wouldn't be surprised if you were posting maps for critique in a fairly short time.

One question, what tools do You use to create a map ? I mean programs, do you use graphic tablets ( its silly question but for me is not so obvious ) and many more that comes to your mind.

I use Photoshop. GIMP is a free photoshop-like program, but Photoshop CC is relatively inexpensive now. I do use a tablet some of the time, but I spent the first year using a mouse without any real problems. Nowadays, I pull out the tablet for certain types of drawing (such as continental outlines and other long lines, or sketching), but still use my mouse for most things. You don't need a tablet to get started, and once you have reached a level of ability where you think you want one, then get it.
