Map World map for a 2016 novel.

EDIT: scroll down a bit to see the slightly tweaked final version and some of the process work! Terribly exciting, I swear!

Completed this world map today, for a novel. The map will print black and white, but I got paid extra for color, so they could put it on their website in color.

I posted a work in progress over here, if you want to compare the final piece.

While your free to give your feedback, keep in mind, there won't be changes made. The client has already signed off.

Awesome job, looks great, I love the map. Colors, mountains, the ocean, this is nice to look at.

I do have a couple final type comments, since you asked for it. This is being highly picky, but this is such a great map, a little more adjustment on the text I think would help, these are all type changes. Ocean text, awesome!.

    1. Maybe a little more curve and slightly less tracking on the Great Barrier Desert? Type running upward is hard, so maybe a little more bend would be good.
    2. The Wilds, a little more curve to get it off the tree, but keep it between them, thats feels nice.

    3. I'd move Goldseat off the river slightly, Land's end of the inlet bay and Acanthia off the tree?

    4. Are Greywash and Jorl Rivers same size, Jori looks bigger? Greywash could fit better, back out of the mountains.
I'd like to see the other main rivers marked on the other areas.

    5. I think the Mountain text is really good on the two, but World's End has a little problem with the river & legibility. a white outline/soft fade, maybe?, of course you would want to treat the other two exactly the same, but a white outline, soft glow probably wouldn't hurt the other two Mtn text and maybe help the Worlds End????

    6. I think the Five Kingdoms, Dragon Empire, Land of the Dead, Southern Wilds could all use a little less leading (line spacing), not much.

That's it, very picky comments and very personal, I could easily see you not wanting to do any of them, but just thought I'd put my 4 cents in. Beautiful job, Have some reps.

Awesome work! I really love the way you did the deserts, and how you did the land of the dead!

This is lovely and very striking. I love the sea colour and texture especially.

Very nice map! I really like the pleasant colors and the subtle texturing you add on the lands and seas, it's very original.

    Thanks everyone.

Since I had to make a correction, (Thanks -Max- for pointing out the river issue, the layer must have gotten moved a smidge). I decided to tweak a few other things. So here is the final version, already sent off to the client.

Here is the grayscale version that will appear in the book.

And here is the rough map the client sent for me to work from.

Here was the rough that I sent the client before doing final art.

Great work. I agree with Domino, the desert is very good. I think the rivers would have looked better had they been done in the same color and style as the sea, but otherwise I quite like this.

This is a lovely illustrative map. I really like the colours.

I know this is already sent off, but Shield is misspelt as 'Shiled' for those islands east of the Dragon Empire.

The publisher caught that and another mistake, so I fixed them. When I fixed them, I made some other tweaks as well.

I always get an electronic document to cut and past from, because retyping introduces more mistakes/typo's. Even though I always give as many chances for the author to double check all the spelling, and say so, each and every time I send a version.

    But all fixed.

(Also, my computer is telling me you misspelled, misspelt )
