    Default Hello from the GOM

Hello Everyone, greeting from the low seas!

I'm a longtime fantasy fan and former RPG tabletop gamer. Haven't played any TRPG's since the late 1980's but I was thinking about finding a group recently and did some reading on Reddit in the DnD forums, which lead to Behind the Screen, which lead to Worldbuilding which led to HERE.

Some absolutely brilliant work here that's really given me the urge to build a world that I've sort of had in and out of my head for many years. I'm a complete amateur at Cartography, but the work here is pretty damned inspiring so I'm going to give it a whirl just for the heck of it. Unfortunatley for the next few weeks I'm stuck with the blazing interwebz speed of 10KB/s on an unstable connection so I can't download GIMP or CC3 and I'm stuck with AutoREALM (which isn't really a horrible thing, but...you know, Autorealm) and I played around with Inkarnate a little.

I'm really looking forward to purchasing CC3 and can't wait to get my paws on it.

    Cheers!

Hello xcorps, Welcome to the Guild!

To get you started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

    From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!

And be sure not to miss
How to Get Your Rivers in the Right Place: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=3822

    and
    The Most Common Reality Errors:

Have fun and I'll look forward to seeing your first map post!
