    Default The Island of Gemma

So I started to make this map with the idea it would just be a test map, but it quickly flourished into a bunch of ideas. The basic premise of this island is that it was just recently colonized for the first time in the southern portion, leaving much of the North unexplored. I discovered that one of the most difficult things when hand drawing maps is lettering and planning for lettering before you even have a name for something. That's definitely something I want to work on in the future, but for now, I hope you all enjoy. As always, any and all feedback is appreciated! Thanks!

Beautiful work Redleg! And the lettering looks pretty good to me, considering.

This is absolutely lovely. I can't get enough of hand-drawn designs lately. I can appreciate it must be difficult to leave space for labelling as there's no Ctrl+Z with pen & paper! You've made a good job of it though, and the map looks great.

That is a nice job! I have two tips about labeling, even for digitial work. Put your labels in early (in light pencil if you are using paper) and then build the map around them. And leave more white space, every square inch of the map doesn't have to be filled with something.

    And read this: http://www.mapgraphics.net/downloads...es_on_Maps.pdf

    Another good one Red.
I usually do my labeling digitally after i scan it in.
It allows for more options I've found.

Thank you all for the compliments! I've had a blast brainstorming and making these maps.
