    Default 3D snow mountains

Here is a snowy mountain map I made just recently. Created the heightmap with Geocontrol and as I don't have any actual 3D program I had to make the texturing using Photoshop. I made some rookie mistakes in Geocontrol on the way and it's missing few details I had planned. I also made a summer version just to see if it could be done from the same source.

I'm planning on using this in our upcoming RPG bandit camp raid.

    I hope you like it.

    Cheers,
    PasiS

Blender is free ,it uses the GPL license

    for a command line tool
G'mic also renders 3d land ,but uses a lot of system ram to do it

    not bad

That is quite nice. I want to experiment with this sort of thing myself but haven't got there yet. I have a tendancy to put to many irons in the fire so I'm not sure when but please keep sharing what you learn.

I might need to take a closer look at blender. Geocontrol allow exporting the heightmap to various formats so I might check it. I was able to export the data to Unity engine which is a 3d game design platform. Lets see if I can make anyting decent with these.

If it exports to HF2 then save it as height.hf2 and put my little app in the same directory and run it up. You can save a color.png in there too and it will texture it.

    Hi Pasis,

Your example seems very interesting to me. Geocontrol is a free software? and if it is, could you tell me where I can find it?

    Regards,
