    Map My first hex map

    isles-map-large.jpg

This is my first post here and also my first map. I will use it in my D&D campaign. I use the hex grid to calculate travel speed more easily.

Oh, and I made it fully in Photoshop.

Tell me what you guys think!

First off, welcome to the Guild Domigorgon! This is a nice hex map. Certainly more attractive than many I've seen. I like the stylized cartoony mountains. The fonts you chose work well with the composition too. And those icons are nice as well. One thing that seems to be missing however is a diversity of terrain features. I spot forests, mountains, grass-lands and deserts. What about hills, swamps, marshes etc? Otherwise great work.

    Cheers,
    -Arsheesh

Hey, thanks for the compliments. As for the swamps, well, there are swamps, they just might not be too visible: look around the town of Grimegulch (straight north), you'll see 'spots'.

As for hills and mountains, well, it's a relatively small area in which there are no real mountains. Compare with Ireland - it's all hills.

And it's sort of a Mediterranean climate, so no deserts or icecaps.

Basically, it's a small area of a much larger world.

Very cool! Are you going to be using this with a game system?

Yes! I play D&D 3.5, and use hexes to calculate travel time: 2 hexes on foot per day, 5 on horseback (slower when off-road, in the mountains, etc.).
