    Post Greetings from the UK

I've always found maps fascinating and beautiful (especially more arhaic ones) and only recently decided that I might have a go at making a few to see what I came up with. And, voila, I found myself on this site and spent a while perusing the tutorials and faboulous maps made by this group.

As many people on here seem to do, I've started a draft regional map for a D&D campaign that I'm part of (though didn't design), which I'll probably upload to the WIP section when it's a bit further along for some advice and what not. Once that's finished I'll probably do the other regions and mayhaps an overall one, who knows.

I haven't had much presence on forums and communities in the past and I'll try my best as I discover new treasures in the many posts here. Hopefully, I'll attempt new styles and maybe I'll end up doing maps in a completely different way from how I originally envisioned.

I look forwards to starting this new adventure with all of you well-worn and talented companions.

Hello GLS! Welcome to the Guild!

To get you started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

    From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!

And be sure not to miss
How to Get Your Rivers in the Right Place: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=3822

    and
    The Most Common Reality Errors:
    http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=30156

Have fun and I'll look forward to seeing your first map post!

    Thanks Chick!

I've already been through the first couple you mentioned, but will be sure to check out the other two!
