    Map Abrantoc

Diamond, you wished on my last WIP thread that I'd work faster...well, here you go. A map that I cracked out over my holiday break, the Lands of Abrantoc, Meletoc, Kebrenek, and Sudroc:

    Abrantoc.JPG

Abrantoc is a stately pastoral kingdom. It relies on its primary industry of agriculture, as well as trade routes running through Port Albract. The current king in Abranas Castle has inherited the imperial ambitions of his grandfather, which led to a long-simmering war with neighboring Meletoc. The city of Garrison lies at center of this conflict. To the southeast, Kebrenek remains neutral; its towns of fishermen and the great temple at Mont Hesprila content to stay out of the fray.

The whole thing is pen on Bristol and took me about a day. I was trying to practice some new coastlines and forest styles, as well as play with city symbols. The compass was a bit of an afterthought, so I sort of squished the sword pommel. Whoops.

On a more fun note, my father-in-law got very excited about the idea of scanning this in and engraving it into a piece of wood veneer with his laser cutter. So, here's that. I think it's kind of cool, and I'll have to think about ways to take advantage of the capability...

There's a darker piece we did, too, where the grain lines up with the water in an interesting way. It didn't digitize very well, though.

Nice! The wood-engraved one REALLY turned out well.

    Looks good again jshoer!
I'm really liking the labelling on this one for some reason! The whole map isn't too cluttered and has clear, defining linework! Nice one!

Very nice. I especially like how you did the farmlands. The perspective might be slightly off, and yet, I fancy how they so simply convey something larger. Keep up the good work!

Thank you, everybody! Tainotim, are you thinking of how the forests compare to the mountains?
