    Post Hello Wold

    Hey everybody,

I'm just getting started here. I am working with some friends on a pirate themed board game and decided it was a good excuse to start learning some cartography to make some treasure maps for our game. I'm looking to learn a few new skills.
    • I'm decent at photoshop for photo manipulation, but I need to learn to be able to use it better for drawing/painting/sketching (very recently bought an intuos pro tablet).
    • I'd like to start by learning where I can find some maps from the pirate era (mid 1600s?) and fun cartoon pirate maps and seeing what I can do to come up with a style of my own.
    • I'd also like to learn about making DnD style play maps as I'm considering attempting to DM a group in Pathfinder and it'd be cool to come up with my own dungeon design.

This website seems like an awesome source of information for getting started and I'm excited to jump in and learn from the best.

Hello seafoodgar! Welcome to the Guild!

As a general way to get started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

    From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

Once you have completed those two tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!
