    Default Middle-Earth map

Here's my Middle-Earth map from the monthly challange.

It was made in Photoshop using my own work (maybe borrowed a few pixels somewhere).

The mountains are made from scratch in Photoshop using layer styles, custom textures, and custom brushes (as a layer style the mountains are fully editable). I wish I could do some more tutorials some day (suggestions welcome).

Rep it, rate it, or vote for it if you like it

wow. And I mean wow! I've seen many versions of this map in the past - I used to be a HUGE Lord of the Rings fan (I'm still a fan, but I don't know every line of every book by heart anymore ) - but I don't think I've ever seen a version so elaborate as this one. So there it goes. Wow!

Great job Carnifex! I think you developed a very cool and solid style with this one.

    Thanks Ilanthar!

And as I had some questions about it: I have not used any 3D-rendering (or any other external program (Wilbur etc)) to paint the mountains on the map. Just good ol' Photohop and some layer effects

    Nicely done!
My only little nit-pick is I would've expected Mordor, etc. to be a bit more arid.
