    Default Hi guys!

Heard about these forums from a couple of Youtube channels I watch. One is a guy called WASD20 and another, I'm sure you've all heard of, FantasticMaps.

Anyway, long story short, I'm Shane, I'm Irish, I'm 27 and I've stumbled into being a casual cartographer over the last few months. I started becoming interested in DnD before Christmas when my partner and her brother and uncle and I were playing loads of board games. I bought the Dungeon MAsters handbook and never played the game yet, but have been drawing and creating my own province/world maps since. Treated myself to a little wacom tablet yesterday and I'm really enjoying the journey thusfar!

    Nice to meet you guys!

Well tbh, I'm happy with my progress on pen and paper so far, but making the change to Photoshop with a tablet is pretty tricky. It doesn't feel as natural as pen to paper. But I guess I can colour and shade on the tablet if I scan in my pen and paper drawings.

Gonna practice loads either way to get the hang of it

Hello Shane, Welcome to the Guild!

To get you started, there is a great tutorial in the sticky section of Tutorials, called
Quickstart Guide to Fantasy Mapping: http://www.cartographersguild.com/showthread.php?t=4276

    From there, go to
Hand Drawn Mapping for the Artistically Challenged: http://www.cartographersguild.com/sh...ad.php?t=10655

    and then read
    Lineart Map Tutorial for Beginners:

Once you have completed those tutorials, you'll be well on your way!!

    It's been re-branded. It's gender-neutral.
