Default [WIP] The Elven Realms (Commission)

Last Sunday I got my first commission. It was my girlfriend who commissioned me to make a map of the borderlands of an imaginary elven realm. I'm not sure if I should consider this an actual commission, but at least it's good to expand my portfolio ;p

Here is the initial sketch from which I'm working:

After I made the sketch my girlfriend decided that she didn't want a coastline so here's where I'm at right now:

As always, let me know what you think!

I made some progress on this map.

I have finished the outlines of the mountains, hills and forests.

    Next up:

    - Ridge lines on the mountains and hills
    - Details on the forest
    - Marshes to the south

As always, let me know what you think!

The outlines looking good so far. I'm a bit confused by the lines right now but I'm sure that will work itself out once you add more details.

Hey Dan, looking really good so far. I like how you created the perspective. One little nitpick: the rivers (and also the coastline) look a bit too squiggly to my taste. But this will be a great map nonetheless i think. Keep up the great work!

Thank you! Yes, those rivers don't look quite right yet. They did look fine when I was working on them, but not so much when zoomed out.

Here's another update already. I did some work on the forests (which I don't really like so far, but I thought I'd share it anyways) and mountains.

    Now off to bed!

The mountain linework is great, but i somewhat share your doubts about the forest. The details look a bit too regularly spread in my view. Also they've all quite the same form, like a "/". I wonder what it'll look like, if you add some "/\/" or even "/\^/" to it
Edit: it doesn't show the signs as intended. So here it is with A: "A" , "AA" "A^A"
    Cheers,

I see what you mean (: Thanks for the input. I would give it a try, but my girlfriend/client just informed me that she wants the forest represented in an entirely different style ;p

I have now finished the mountains and hills. I also reworked the rivers in the north to see if this less 'squiggly' version works better. I think it does. Also did some work on the marshes to the south but I'm not entirely satisfied with them yet. Any suggestions are welcome!
