Need some basic info/help on Gimp 2

I have Gimp 2 and I'm looking to add 1st edition AD&D/Gammaworld map tiles to the tile/brush sets??

Thank you in advance for your help and if anyone can point me to the basics of make overland/underground/building/city mapping with Gimp 2 I would be most thankful.

the current stable is 2.8.16
i would start with the documentation

section 6 "brushes "

then 7

this will somewhat change in Gimp 2.10

for the last 10 years or so gimp can use any photoshop brush
so if there are any of those you like
they can be used
