Uncharted Arctic Island (Commission)

I was asked (by my husband) to create an uncharted arctic island, untouched by humanoid hands, for a 2nd edition D&D campaign he's running. He wanted a 'smallish' island, with one MASSIVE, solitary mountain to the southeast surrounded by hills, only one river or stream, and absolutely no civilization what so ever, and only one viable beachhead. He also wanted treacherous terrain. The rest, was up to my creativity.

So this is what I came up with to meet his specifications. It seemed to me that he wanted a dark, desolated island, so I used the Herman Weilink style to create this island. I think it turned out rather well, considering. And he's happy with it, which is what counts. So here it is!

That definitely has a lonely desolate feel to it. Very wintry and cold.

Well yes, obviously, but not everyone manages to make a map that 'feels' wintry and cold and desolate.
Some just look white.

I agree with John, you did a great job of making this look very cold and un-inviting. I don't wanna go there...nope, not in a million years!

lol... Tonnichiwa!!! You know the worst part about all this? I'm actually PLAYING in this campaign... It's a good thing I can separate player knowledge from character knowledge! It helps that I may have created this island, but I have no idea what he is going to do with it.

Looks great, ladiestorm! And definitely cold and frigid. I wouldn't want to go there either. I'd probably slip on ice and fall down that chasm!
