    Default Windfoort (town map)

Hello folks, here's my first digital city map!! To make it, I took example from better cartographers/illustrators than me, but I'm really proud of the result!

    Infos:
Windfoort is a small town settled in the fictional world of Heimur - you can spot it in my "Graenlandir" map - a perfect starting point for an rpg campaign!

Feel free to comment and Enjoy!

    Tom

:O Your first digital town map?? I'm very jealous of your skills, and drooling over this map.

I really want to try to make a map like this now, any pointers or tips about your techniques?

Reminds me a lot of J. Edward's style, which I assume you got inspiration from, yet with your own style to it. I absolutely love it!! The side view of the town is awesome too.

Out of curiosity how long did this take you?

I'm going to be drooling over this for a while.

I offer map commissions for RPG's, world-building, and books

    Thank you very much Josiah!!

I worked on this in the past 2 months, about 50 hours on concept+draw (the concept phase was very long, because when I try something new I'm always undecided about the style)
    basically like this:

Concept --> sketch --> draw --> realizing that I'm getting nowhere close to the initial idea --> curse words --> more draw --> stuck --> more curse words --> panic attack --> more draw and fix --> work completed

Thank you Tonnichiwa! the font I used is the one I created for my "graenlandir" map, but in all honesty, I'm not so happy about the "Windfoort" title, maybe it could be bettered, but I was tired..

    Awesome also the cobblestone roads!
Thanks! yes I did the lines manually, but just because I had no time problem, for bigger city maps the use of peen tool or similar is mandatory to speed up the process
About the cobblestone, I was about to discard that idea, but my girlfriend convinced me that was a too nice texture to discard!

Thanks! The side view was really tricky to do, and in fact (shhh keep the secret!) I forgot to add the chimneys..
