    Post Map reupload

I've decided to re-upload the map, but as an attachment as i was stupid enough to link it intead first time round

    Hey so..

this is my map for a d&d 5e campaign that im working on with some friends, and i think its finished. It turned out okay, but id appreciate any suggestions for improvements. The map took me way too long because of its detail and lore depth, so some of the design aspects i think aren't fluid enough. After the map was nearing completion i searched around a bit and was redirected here by wasd20, and since then this site has really helped me with fine tuning some features of the map. Ideally id like it to look a little less piratey but oh well i am but a noob in map making. I found it difficult too add a border i felt was right so unfortunately i was stuck with just expanding the canvas and paper texture.

    Here is the map:

I like that there is no hard line that separates the land masses from the oceans; that is a really bold move and i think that even with the subtle color difference in those features makes it work in a real cool way.

For those earth motes (the floating islands) I would have made them considerably larger than the other features and filled in some color on the building/nature elements. Then maybe drop a shadow underneath them.

Thanks! There isn't actually much difference in color between the landmass and the background, i put a layer mask over the paper texture so the land stood out a little. And thanks I'll try that, i had to shrink the trees under the islands to make it look to scale, so maybe it would make it look a little more fluid.

Nice map! Has a nice antique look to it.

Are all of the elements preset brushes or did you draw any yourself? I'm guessing the whitish part is ice or something?

    Good job!

thanks! The areas that are repetitive like forests and mountain ranges are done with preset brushes, Some, like the southern forest i did using my own preset bushes then filled the canopy in manually, the floating islands and a lot on the east continent are done by hand. Yeah it is, maybe i should make that a little more clear.
