    Map Ethran

This is Ethran - a world that is stuck in a geosynchronous orbit with its larger twin, and which is slowly being robbed it of its atmosphere. The ocean is all but frozen, and the only habitable places to be found are situated in the iris of Ethran's eye, around the blackened volcanic mass of its pupil.

Drawn in (and rendered directly from) Campaign Cartographer 3+, using the Herwin Wielink template. The coastline was partially hand drawn, and partially taken from a Fractal Terrains 3 fantasy world. This image is in its original rendered state (give or take that I had to reduce it to 25% to upload it). There are no map notes or specifications for this drawing, because it was drawn by me to go with an unpublished book and two or three months before I joined the guild.

Hmmmm. If someone had shown me this map and said, How was it made?, I would have said with The GIMP or Photoshop; that's a bit more than FM8 or CC3+ can do. I guess I would have been wrong. It looks like the guild has trapped a very good mouse, one who might teach us a thing or two. I'll have to order a bunch of Green Bay Packer type Wisconsin cheese to keep her from escaping.

I don't think I've seen this one, yet. This is beautiful, and very chilling! I'm assuming the shadow is from its twin? With all the maps seen of yours, i'm looking forward to the release of your books! You map definitely makes me want to read them!!!

Allow me to be the first(I hope not the last) to give you so.e rep!

Well, double thank you, Ladiestorm! I now have a pretty green block by my name. I'm really chuffed about that - more chuffed than I was when I figured out the quote button, in fact.

You're right that is the permanent eclipse shadow. It moves around a bit because of the way the planets wobble relative to each other, but that's more or less it.

With all the mapping I've been doing, the writing has kind of taken a back seat for a while, but I'll let you know when its done. It will be free on Amazon - the first one's a gift from me to the world.

It's not often that I take off my admin hat and talk map stuff, but this map really caught my eye while scrolling through Tapatalk. Very impressive not only for how good it looks but for how unique of an idea it seems to be to me! I can't wait to read this book!

Well - its more about what you do with the tools that you got, than whatever they might happen to be.

    Thanks Josiah

As my dear departed Dutch grandfather used to say (in the U.S., his migrant home), Ainnit the truth!
