    Default Hi all

    Hello Everyone,

Having lurked on this site for quite a while i have decided to finally sign up and hopefully learn a bit more about map making.

My first interest in Cartography ( and world building) came from playing Warhammer 40.000 with a friend and deciding we wanted our own place in the W40k universe to play our games.
Later i read somewhere a short story about a father telling bedtime stories to his children and he put his children in those stories. it was then that i decided i wanted to create a fantasy world in which i could place stories which i would later be able to tell my children.
This has now grown to be a desire to create a Fantasy world in which i might even write stories ( if i can get my writing skills up a bit)

Anyway, for this world i really want a world map and although i have a vague idea of how it`s going to be i am far from the level i need to be to be able to create such a map.

For now i have only a couple maps and sketches ( which i`ll be posting soon) and i hope by signing up i can push myself to keep improving my map making.

    Thanks for reading
    Nightbringer a.k.a. Rick

Hi Rick, welcome to the Guild.

If you've checked out the forums already, I presume you've had a look in the tutorials section? That really is the best place to start. Even if the end result of a tutorial isn't exactly what you want, working through the steps can help improve your skills and may teach you a few tricks that you can use when you go to create your own maps.

Feel free to share your sketches and previous maps, and don't be shy to ask for advice, if you need it.
