    Default Introduction

    Hello Guild Members,
My name is Steven Helsel and I am a starving author. J/J I have finally gotten published by a small publisher. I DM the Pathfinder Role Playing Game as well. I have long been a map enthusiast and am in love with world building. My map making skills need a lot of work but I do love to make them. I am all about an integrated approach. I use Hero Lab and Realm Works and Profantasy software. I just started to get serious about my efforts. I want to create a fan based world where creative fans can add to the body of canon through creative writing and artistic contribution while plugging themselves for it. I of course want to use it as a launching point for my fiction but even for the fiction of others whether self published or traditionally published. Most of all I want it to be a campaign world that players of table top RPG's can have access to the world itself for free, with no need to buy thirty dollar books for some corner of the map; not to replace published worlds but to give people a starting point so that they can spend their money on other things. They can contribute in some small way, fleshing out a hamlet tucked between the mountains or a building in one of the great cities. Anyway that is my dream but this is an excellent online community for people who love maps. I really want to research other options on top of my Profantasy Software to see what other options there are. I also love medieval maps, I want eventually to create a universe based on medieval Earth. I also love board games and even video games of strategy that are played out on giant maps. Cheers!

Hi Steven, welcome to the Guild. That's an ambitious project you have, and I wish you every success with it. If you have a look in the Tutorials/How To section of the forum, you'll find lots of tutorials and help articles to get your started, or if you have some work-in-progress that you'd like to share, feel free to post it in one of the WIP folders.

If you need help with anything, just ask.
