Hello everyone. Over the last year or so, I've gone from being convinced that I have no artistic ability whatsoever, to teaching myself the basic skills of drawing and painting.

I have a similar fantasy background to many people here. I cut my teeth on the Dragonlance, and David Eddings books in middle school. Fell in love with the maps, genealogies, and histories of Tolkien. Discovered that I could create my own living worlds around the D&D table in college.

Now, in between working 50 hours a week, and raising three youn children, i indulge in the arts. I've nearly finished my first novel, and in the last week or so, I started playing around with cartography.

This forum has been both interesting and helpful. I hope that I can add to the content in some small way, and maybe make some new friends.

Hi Corey, and welcome. You sound like you've got a lot on your plate, so I hope you manage to squeeze in some mapping time here at the Guild.

If you need some guides to get going, take a look in the Tutorials/How To area of the forum. Or, if you've got something started already, feel free to post in the WIP folder for some advice and critique. I'll look forward to seeing what you're working on. Oh, and congrats on (nearly) finishing your book!

Thank you. It is a lot to have on the plate, but if you don't take some time to take care of yourself, its all to easy to lose yourself to the responsibilities.
