    Map NW Charedon

The only thing that I had in mind when I started this was to experiment with a regional style. I had done continents in the satellite style for years and over the summer started doing cities so that left the in-between regional map (I haven't even thought about doing encounter maps).

Starting with my normal (artistic-satellite) style this began to take on a new look when I first put the rivers in. They looked a bit "cartoony" or "video gamey" to me and that, in turn, led to the cities being even more so. Then I put down my icons to designate areas of interest. When I started labeling I didn't have anything particular in mind until I had an idea to do something which I had never seen but thought might be cool...big ole carved stone text for the labels similar to looking at Stonehenge in an ISO view. 3d programs really test my pea brain so I tried to do something similar entirely within Photoshop. Having these big carved-stone looking city names I decided to redo the cities in a more isometric look, again staying entirely within Photoshop. Having faux 3d cities names and cities I had to redo the icons for the areas of interest and luckily I had some old Google SketchUp images to import.

I'm really happy with how it turned out and hope you all like it as well.

I like it. It captures the eye.

The colours and 3d aspect really emphasize the stoniness of it.

I especially like the Standing Stones and some of the place objects.

Any chance you could post em as PNGs?

I love the chance you took with the lettering. The map is too dark when viewed smaller, but when you zoom in it is perfect. I would be concerned about printing being too dark though. Great map.

Wow, you have really good eyes to even begin to make them out...I didn't put any in This is the northwest section of a kingdom so, at most, I'd put in duchy and barony lines but I didn't want to overload the map so I left 'em out.

    LOL

I like it, but I have a question - are the white areas supposed to be clouds, or mountains?

I think its very cool-looking, but I would dread printing out something that dark - thats a real Ink-eater there. Visually, however, its stunning.

    Post Exploring NW Charedon

    Greetings!

Soon you will be able to explore NW Charedon in an upcoming video game from Dynamic Adventures Inc. I have purchased the map from Ascension and it will be featured as the world map in ... Well you will have to wait for the title and release date, but I will be sure and post on the Guild when it is coming out. You can check out our current game ZenHak on Xbox Community Games while you wait. Now I am back to code, code, and more code.

    Cheers,
