The basic idea is that after Napoleon successfully invades Russia, the peace terms are a bit harsh. Some of Russian's western provinces (Finland, the Baltics and parts of Poland and Belarus) are given independence. Finland ends up under Louis Bonaparte, aka Ludvig I. In the 1890s, this timeline has its World War One equivalent between Bonapartist Europe on one side and Russia, Austria, Prussia and the Ottomans on the other. It ends in Bonapartist victory and Finland gets a modest share of territory as a reward. Now Finland is doing farely well under the reign of King Yrjö II.
