    Default Hello everyone!

Hey, I discovered this forum a little while ago and I've been looking around, and getting a lot of inspiration from everyone's maps! And, of course, everyone's positive and friendly attitude. It seems like a really great community and I look forward to taking part.

I actually drew a map just yesterday for fun to celebrate joining. I've liked to draw maps like this for fun (and for RPGs I played with my friends) since I was really little, but I've never done anything digitally. I'm interested in looking into that primarily in order to combine smaller maps into larger ones, and make different layers for them. Anyway, I love all of the emergent stories that come from drawing a map and thinking about how its different parts interact (different biomes, inhabitants, resources, infrastructure...), and I also love how creative mapmaking lets you play with positive and negative space and all kinds of different shading.

Lately I've just been drawing little maps on index cards for whatever reason. Something about it is really fun to me.

That's the spirit srt! Welcome to the Guild, you seem to be in the right place here indeed. Have some rep for posting this wonderful "celebration map" in your first post. I agree that mapping is even more fun when constraining yourself or the size of the "canvas" in your case. Don't hesitate to ask for help if you get stuck in your journey into digital mapping. Looking forward to see more of your maps soon.
    Cheers,
    AL

Thank you so much! And thanks for the offer of help. I already have GIMP and Inkscape installed on my computer, which I've used for some graphic design stuff in the past. So, I'm not totally new to digital stuff. Just pretty new, and totally unused to using the computer to make maps.
