Stars Hollow - Commission

Some time ago I got a private commission from a client who wanted a map made for his wife. His wife is a big fan of the show Gilmore Girls and he asked me to make a map of the town where the show takes place: Stars Hollow. It took quite some time since there's only a small part of the town that is actually build so a lot of stuff is made up. I've also never seen the show, so I had to read a lot about the characters and shops to get an idea of where they were in the town.

Most of this map is based on a set from Warner Bro's, and the outskirts are improvised.

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this map because it's not like anything I've done before!

I've never seen the show either, but this is a gorgeous viewpoint! It's simple enough to show me where everything is right away, but detailed enough to keep me drawn in. I love the care you put into the "main street" storefronts. The style has a gentle feel to it; perfect for the subject matter.

The perspective is pretty unusual, being more 3D than ISO, but it adds a certain charm to a piece that is very cleanly drawn.

Thank you Tom! Yeah, I thought it would be cool to use the same font that they used in the show. The 'Title' is also the sign that you see on the town square in the show (:
