Someone made these maps, and they look great. How do you guys think this was made? The campaign that this is part of has random encounters, so I need to learn the skillset to create maps in similar art style.

The huts and the fire are almost certainly symbols created by Dundjinni artists - small png graphics that can be pasted into a map. They are probably part of Bogie's Mapping Object collection, or the CSUAC, both of which are available from Vintyri.org The pages there will give you some idea of software compatibility, but bear in mind that if you want to use these symbols they work better in some apps than others. For example the roofs of the building symbols come ready shaded on one side and not the other for PS and GIMP, and can only really be used in one orientation for the map to make sense, whereas the same buildings used in Campaign Cartographer (and possibly also in Fractal Mapper and Dundjinni) will be shaded by the software according to the rotation of the building in the map.
I hope that helps
Guild member Syrkres posted a video tutorial not long ago about about creating something similar. If you have Photoshop, it might be of interest. The assets are from Dundjinni, as Mouse mentions above. Thread is here...
