    Map Fantasy Region Map

This is a digital map I made in hand drawn style. I generated the coast lines (I should have done them by hand), and tried out making a border design.

Its good to see you experimenting all the time with different ways of doing things, LC

The land shapes are great, and the overall composition pretty neat, but I do agree with you that the coast is... not what it could be.

If you ever do a version of this with a hand drawn coast, it would be horribly easy to still make it look bad if you were to try and include all the details in your hand drawn coastline. When I was at college... (everyone groans, but I'm over 50 and have a right to tell stories about 'when I was a lass' ) I was taught that the level of detail in a coastline should be as great as possible without the line actually doubling back on itself and touching itself at any one point. Therefore, many a small wiggle was consequently missed out of the maps I drew in Geography and Geology! BUT - they all looked the better for it

Thanks! I have one more finished map I haven't posted yet, which has generated coastlines, but after that, I probably will not be doing it again (the computer never gives me exactly what I want). Thanks for all the good advice!

I'm with Mouse, I love seeing you experiment with different things. I've fiddled around with trying to generate coasts as well but nothing really beats just sitting down and doing it by hand. It might take longer, but I find it always gives the nicest results.
