    Map Saenai

I made a couple maps over the week I was gone, and this is probably my favorite one.

    Saenai.jpg

It is closely based on a map generated by dwarf fortress.

Nice work! The colors are really pretty - the blue and green go well together and look tranquil. I like the paper texture, too.

    It certainly has pretty colours

Sorry I missed it initially. I seem to be missing a lot of things just lately!

I don't know why but the rivers seem kind of jiggled in a squarish fashion - sort of angular, if you see what I mean. The coast isn't, so I can't see a reason why the rivers are.

Thanks! The only reason I can think that the rivers turned out like that is I used the GIMP ink tool, and maybe that tool creates those lines (Though I've never noticed it before).

Now that I look at it again it closely resembles something I once drew. I discovered in that instance that I had 'snap to grid' turned on, so the line I thought was freehand had followed the grid.

    Maybe that's what happened?

Maybe. Whatever it was, I don't know, but that very well might be it.

I really think the people that update GIMP should seriously consider a toggle button for the snapping features - grey or green when no snap is on, and red when they are
