    Map Esperia

A commissioned map originally, but the client went silent and never again responded to my emails. So I decided to post it now.

    Done in PS.

Very interesting: a very special map, a bit "extreme" for my taste, but my eyes were hooked by the drawings of towns and villages, which I find very beautiful. The most bizarre for me in this map is the coast line, which presents few variations.
But the whole is quite successful, with the choice of colors, features and details of the forests and the sea.

I love the overall design. All of the elements, particularly the outer edges and illustrations are fantastic. The area the map depicts seems overly sparse, at least for my taste. My eye was drawn to the large void area in the upper region and wondered what it could be. I guess you have to work with what you're assigned with a commission, but I think just a couple of more details would really make it shine. Overall excellent work on the presentation of it.

Nice one Sapiento! When I first looked at it I wasn't all that impressed. The linework anf sea pattern seemed a bit to harsh for my taste, but after looking at it for a while I actually started to like this map (:

I noticed that to and I have seen it in more of your maps lately, especially in your Grammahekaton map. Is this something you're experimenting with, or simply a coincidence? Whichever it is, I like it. It makes for some unusual map ;D

Nice composition - what's the font you use for the town names?

Thank you! The required style was quite specific for this map as were the number of details. The client also provided a sketch of the map and I tried to follow the shape of the land as close as possible.

Thank you! That's actually a conincidence. For the Grammahekaton map I chose the shape delibartely, an approximation of the real shape as ancient cartographers used to draw them.
