    Wip Emperor's Gap

Time for a new map using a wider perspective.

This is looking very promising, Sap. I like the way the map disappears into the horizon, as though it is seen from a bird's perspective rather than, say, an airplane or satellite.

One thought that occurs to me at this point is that, considering the perspective that you are using, one would expect objects at the bottom to be nearer and hence larger, and yet the mountains in the foreground are smaller than those in the back. Maybe that's just me, though...

Either way, it's gonna look great when it's done.

Thanks! The mountains in the background are actually much large than those in the foreground. I'm aware of this visual issue, maybe I can find a way to illustrate this better.

Change the geographical representation? ie you went for sharp craggy on the back ones so do something different on the foreground mountains? Not sure it would convey what you wanted then though.

One trick I tried once, which I think works well, is to include mist winding among the valleys of the distant mountains, but not the foreground ones. Maybe that would work?

What a promising start! I love the geological features of the map, in relation to this name so evocative! It is very impressive as you already have a character so determined for this map, when you have just started ... beautiful work!

Nice idea with the changed perspective; that the mountains are getting taller and fainter towards the back really helps to emphasize the distance.

    Thank you, guys!

A little bit more linework and some basic colours applied.
