    Default Cesternfell

I had to do some post-production editing to make the file size smaller. I started with a 6000x6000 pixel image.(Whoops,my bad.) I hope that quality wasn't lost in reducing the image size, but here goes.

    cesternfellSMALL.png

This is my second map. Ever. For those of you that remember my first map, it wasn't spectacular.

These maps are for my homebrew Dungeons and Dragons setting. I figured that instead of reattempting the first map, I should instead elaborate on each area with much higher detailed maps. This allows me to continue to build and expand on my setting while writing it off as "the first map is a more crude generalized map made by those that are less adept at cartography.". As you can see, I added landmass, etc. That was not in the original map.

Some feedback on not only the first map, but my growth would be oh so appreciated as always.
Any questions on how I did things are also welcome. I don't keep secrets for the sake of keeping my work original as there are millions of maps and styles far better than mine out there.

Also, one last very important detail that I will discuss:
I suck at making buildings, structures, etc. For those that have given me advice and direction on developing my abilities to do so, thank you.
The structures in this map were indeed cut, modified, and rearranged in this map to suit my needs, and without giving proper credit I wouldn't feel right.
Credit goes to the wonderful Bethesda and Elder scrolls online developers. I love their maps so much, and I really want my maps to begin looking more and more like theirs.

    Thanks everybody!

I like your different ideas for this map, it makes a nice terrain for adventures : the bridge, the village on the inner sea, one city over a detroit, two cities up in valleys. Your choice of colors and design also give a peculiar ambiance to it !

I'm just a little bit disturbed by what seems to be a pixellisation maybe due to the change of size ?

Yeah it's the change of size. Where at is the pixelation exactly? I hope it's from the change of size lol
Also, some of the "terrain" came out in the very end kind of wonky.

The coast south of Sunny Margin seems pixellisated to me... but don’t worry, the map looks really fine !

We all take a bit of time to learn, and you can only learn by doing more maps, and this one looks a lot better than the first one

The pixelation that I think Jo was talking about is mostly affecting the coastline - where it looks jagged and like its made up of a line of squares. This sort of thing always happens if you enlarge things. Its better to start large and then reduce the map a bit if it ends up being a bit too large

    Oh look! I've just noticed!

    Happy Birthday!

    HAHa oh thanks !

Also yes! I need to learn how to make the building and structures in the eso style of maps. I’m so glad this one looks way better than the last.

Also yeah I noticed that. I’m not sure why it did that. It looked really decent, even when zoomed in in photoshop

Really good map, I like the colors very much. I doubt the pixelation comes from the overall size change, as only the south coastline seems pixelized ? 6000px is large but you can totally post a image of this size in the jpeg format. If ever you enlarge things, it works much better if you choose a whole number (x2, x4, etc.)
