    Post Greetings from France

    Hello everyone,

I have discovered cartography few days ago while browsing Instagram and immediately loved what I saw. I never realized that "just" a map could awake such imagination and bring worlds to reality, even in fictional ones. For now I have no plans of creating worlds or stories through maps, I just want to relax and to enjoy learning and drawing them.

I am learning how to draw (mostly characters) for few months now through different courses and tutorials but I feel that I am not really making the progress I should. Maybe starting by learning characters is not the best idea... However, my first attempt as mapping a region went well, at least not so bad so it is encouraging.

A short bio : I am a french designer living in the U.K. I have created an ergonomic and functional drawing board. This project was a school project and was not intended to be commercialized. But after a positive feedback, I decided to launch a Kickstarter campaign that has been successfully funded last year. I am selling the boards on my website since.

Now it is time to browse the forum in search of tutorials. I hope to show some work soon !

    Best,

    Vyg

Hello Vygavriel. I've recently joined this crew myself, for very similar reasons. I skipped the 'learning how to draw characters'-bit, because I just don't have any natural talent to even attempt it without feeling ashamed of the doodles I make. But drawing maps, that's a challenge I feel up to and it's interesting to boot. So good luck!

    Hi Errandir,

Glad to know I'm not alone in this situation ^^

Despite having no natural talent to draw the human figure, I find it very hard to teach yourself and make your own program. Thus, my grand father who draw and painted most of his life, told me that characters are the most difficult things to draw, at least from his point of view.

Maps are so fun to draw, I'm very happy to have discover it
