    Map The County of Hautelande

    Hi there !

This is pretty much the first map I've ever made from scratch (I only made another one in Inkarnate first). I had of lot of cool WIPs for it, sadly my computer sorta died early 2018 and I lost a ton of raw files and screenshots The WIPs are visible here !

NB : I hand draw everything (except fonts of course) on Paint Tool Sai with an Huion H610PRO tablet.

So here, have a blurry finish because I lost the original, yay :

(just adding this to give a better idea of the city since it's so blurry)

I also made of little player-usable version with a lot less detail and a more paper feel. (in Gimp this time)

That's a really unique, unusual style - it looks great, and the work on the cities is absolutely top-notch.

I agree with my fellow mappers, this is really impressive. I adore the style of your drawings, your mountains and forests have a wonderfully unique look to them. As others have said, the details on the cities are amazing. However, I personally would save them for separate maps in the future. The relative emptiness of the landscape around the cities makes them look a touch out of place to me... or maybe it's the colors? I can't quite put my finger on what creates it exactly, but I kinda have this feeling of the cities not quite going together with the rest of the map. If that makes any sense?

That being said, I absolute love the cities, and the landscape as singular elements. Sorry to hear about the computer crash, but I very eagerly await to see what you do next! Welcome to the Guild!

Thank you so much for you wonderful comment !

And yeah, I get what you mean, with the cities feeling out of place. It's probably because of the emptiness, as you said, and the scale. Since the cities are really detailed, the rest of the map feels very empty and also really small to me. The trees are there as more of a filler than an accurate placing of forests.. but in return it makes the distance between cities / the size of the county in general feel really weird.

So yeah, I'll try a different style in the future probably Thank you again <3
