Default July 2018 Challenge: The Tomb of Valloris the Mad.

    Hi Folks,

This will be a map in two parts. The first part is the actual realm of Valloris, named after it's sole resident, the Lich Valloris. The second part will be Valloris' actual tomb (something akin to the Tomb of Horrors).

I don't know exactly how strict I'm going to be in my interpretation of what the generator provided or how I'm going to present the finished article, we'll see.

Below is my initial generated list, I'm picking item 1 and my WIP shot which is the initial construction of the realm (i've realised I've already made a slight error which I'll correct in a future post).

Essentially, the players enter the realm through whatever means the Games Master sees fit and they find themselves in a 10' wide corridor. When they continue past the end of the corridor the GM will roll a D12 to determine which entry point they continue on, re-rolling if the result is the same as the one they're leaving. There will be scattered through out, sets of stairs which will act in exactly the same manner with the exception of the single set that lead to the tomb. This is my version of a perpetual dungeon...

    Corrected WIP attached.

Ordinarily, symmetrical Dungeons are a big no, no, but in this instance the fact the corridors and door ways are symmetrical is what will make this concept work, particularly when the PC's believe themselves to be travelling in straight lines.

I love the play on the endless dungeon, an idea I may dial back for my Pathfinder group. Cool idea!

Thanks Adfor. I wish it was completely my idea by I stole the concept from something I saw on the net, I think it was a creation of Dyson's. This was the only way I could think of to map "a realm of endless corridors and rooms". Obviously you could make the initial map any size you want, I went with a 3 x 3 just to keep it manageable.

Most ideas have traces of plagiarism anyhow. I think they call it culture.

    @Adfor, Indeed, something like that.

Anyhow folks, construction on my mini-megadungeon continues. General floor plan is done for the primary level.

I've decided I'm going to go old-school blue for this in homage to the Tomb of Horrors. A classic adventure which admirably serves as inspiration for part 2 of this project.

Just in case i don't finish in time I thought I'd best post an update of the 'realm' portion of the map as it's about 80% done. Need to add a couple of doors to the bottom row of rooms I think and label the individual stairs. I'll probably have to increase the size of the canvas also, so I can put some instructions on their somewhere, otherwise it doesn't make a lot of sense...

I'm going to write this up as an adventure for The Design Mechanism's, Classic Fantasy line (old-school D&D using the Mythras D100 rule set) and submit it and see what happens.

Ok, so I labelled the stairs and have started work on laying out the 'lair/tomb' section.

Let me know what you guys think...

Unfortunately, I'm not going to get this 100% done.

But here is where I'm at. I ended up not going old-school blue because when I did the lair portion of the map, it didn't look right...

The only thing missing really is a key.

    Hi All,

Had a bit of a slow start to the day so I finished this as best I could.
