    Wip Thalak-Mul [The Return]

Once visited, now we return, to resume this monster map.
That's what this thread will be for. As the weeks and months and years pass by
Hehe, hopefully it won't take that long.... hopefully.

This started as a challenge map for a really cool challenge.
Another good idea from Chashio - the Fill in the Blanks challenge idea.
A blank page with locations names and nothing else.
    1. You MUST keep and use ALL of the labels on the document. And by labels, I mean the words, not the font.
    2. Every label must be in or very close to its starting position.

This one created a bunch of cool entries and had some of our biggest voting numbers.
59 votes, which is a lot. It was a lot of fun.
Needless to say, I didn't finish mine. It was really big.

I guess I'll toss in some of my wip pics here, though you can go check out the wip thread for more.
    Here's what I started with
    Jan2018base1.jpg ---> Jan2018base2a.jpg

It progressed to here before it rotated and grew dramatically.
    ThalakMul 01 sample 06.jpg

Thus rotated, enlarged and just ridiculous, at that point is where we ended the journey.
Along the way we had a few close-up shots. I'll include those here.
    ThalakMul 03 sample 01[full crop].jpg - ThalakMul 03 sample 06crop2.jpg

    ThalakMul 03 sample 08crop1.jpg - ThalakMul 03 sample 13crop.jpg

And finally, here's where I left off, and where I am beginning again.
    ThalakMul 03 sample 23mid.jpg

Not sure how frequently I will be able to update this.
I have a pretty full schedule with work right now.
Plus some new things for patreon and all, it's busy around here.

It's nice to see a full thread dedicated to this beast. I think I smell some Haerlech fragrance in the wind

Haerlech is a big-ish city... not sure it has a nice fragrance
It will definitely be taking a long while. No question.

I wish I could get my regional and world maps to look half as good. Looking forward to seeing how this one develops.

Oh my. Oh My. OH MY!!

I was so very much hoping to see this happen. Yes indeed I was. Hopefully it won't distract me too much from my own work, but if that happens, well, I am sure it will be well worth it.

One's worth is not measured by stature, alone. By heart and honor is One's true value weighed.

    Hell yeah!

I'm always in for such an undertaking by you, J. Very much looking forward to this. What you have already looks awesome.
And hopefully you will also gift us with your lore talents with which you round out your normal map-threads.

Good lord, J.E! I'm always stunned at the level of detail you're able to achieve in such a small scale, just lovely work, absolutely wonderful. Can't wait to see more! Gimme!

Nice to see you return to this. We should have a subforum dedicated to finishing unfinished map challenges. Heh.

I would love to see you work on more of them.
I think you'd be brilliant at it once you got used to doing it.
I had to make myself do specific practices to get used to doing certain things better.
Iso-style mountains to be specific. I just drew them a lot for a while.
I could still stand to improve.

Hmm, lore... this was going to be a point-of-light style world, which would sort of limit the lore...
But, who can say. Maybe there's a good way for me to do some limited lore.
I mean, this already sort of has a cultural feel to it, what with these names.
Maybe people can help me with suggestions on how i can be sufficiently vague yet still telling some of the info.

Hehe, yes, we should. There are a lot I would love to see finished.
I have several that need to be finished. [trails off recalling the Frog Lorde ]

Here's an update. I'm working down in the south.
This is a huge map. I draw a bunch of stuff then zoom out and i'm like.. wtf? it looks like so little got done.
Here's a close up of what I was working on.
    ThalakMul 03 sample 24mid - closeup.jpg

And then zoom way out to see the whole thing
