    Default Greetings!

    Hey fellow mappers,

I'm Megasploot, a video game designer and more recently a dungeon master. My creative aspirations for cartography is towards worldbuilding and hopefully novels in the future. Most of previous mapping work is in video games, which you can see here:

Recently, I started making 2d world maps, as well, but I'm not too proud of them yet so nothing to show. I've actually started working on a new mapmaking tool in that vain as well called Wonderdraft. I stumbled upon this community looking for experience in mapmaking techniques, styles, and other things that cartographers look for in software.

    Cheers

Hiya, very interesting to see someone with video game experience here! I am just in the middle of learning some basics of video game design and 3D and quickly discovering that it is NOT for me... Not enough brainpower in this head, I'm afraid I'll have to stick with the two-dimensional world of maps.

So yeah, I am already pretty intimidated by you. I really look forward to seeing what kind of things someone with your background wiil come up with. Welcome to the Guild!

    Thanks!

No need to be intimidated by me or 3d! Many fields in game development really relies on attention to detail, and in that perspective, it's not so different from what you are already doing. Learning the techniques is painstaking, but everyone can do it. I think it's the persistence and the tenacity that is hard to come by. Don't give up if you are interested!
