Sort of WIP, but the main art is finished. Just need to add text and perhaps a few more details. Tweak the colours and so on.
Lineart: A3 paper, pencil, ink.
Colour: Photoshop CS6, Wacom Bamboo
Time: one Saturday afternoon

I like it! It has a nice color spread and a good layout.
What i am wondering: what's the scale? Care to tell us a bit about the world? Is this for a story and/or RPG?

Still I reach out for the Stars
Thanks!
Well, there's the scale-ruler in the bottom left; one increment can be 50 or 100 miles, whichever you prefer. Personally, I prefer the metric system, so I'll put down each increment as a 100 km. The above image is intentionally generic; if anyone wishes to use it in their roleplaying games, feel free.
It is the first step in a setting I am developing. The title is "Terra Nova", as I am basing it as a recently-discovered continent with only a few established colonies in the southeast. I will be scaling down, providing further maps for these settlements along with history etc.
Ooh, I love your mountains!

And this is more-or-less the finished piece. I have drawn the icons for forts/towns/ruins separately, and I will provide them as free clip-art on my Patreon page soon.
Looks good. My one note would be that the label Icy Wastes in the north is slightly difficult to decipher because of the lines intersecting with the letters up there. The I can also look like an L and it tricked me into reading it as Ley wastes at first (I'm not sure why I keep seeing an e there except for the line crossing at the bottom of the c maybe looking sort of like an upside down e?).
That is pretty cool of you! I mean the offer of being able to use the map for rpg purposes AND the free art. So a big THANK YOU to you!
And the labeled map looks very good as well.
Looking forward to what is to come for this setting.

I like fundamental ideas about the map you created, however, I wasn't completely sold on the contrasts / colors. It is a bit more on the side of pastel colors, which is absolutely OK. It just takes a bit of gravitas regarding the feeling of the world in my opinion.
Since you are so nice to the community, I invested a bit of time and wanted to show you what I mean by example. Hope I didn't step on your toes here...
I made some balancing on the maps, a few overlays, etc. I think it is totally something coming down to taste which version someone likes more. And of cause I rep-ed you =)
Best wishes, Steffen =)

Not at all, I take it as a compliment. It is possible that I would benefit from a new monitor, but part of it is also that I really do tend to stay grounded in 'pale' colours. Comes from some bad experiences with printing, where something looks good on the monitor, but terrible in print (printers tend to favour muted colours).
If I were to venture further into the lands of contrast, I would still probably land halfway to your example. Call me conservative in that regard, but I take it as entirely a matter of taste.
And sure, feel free to tailor the map to your tastes. That's why I provided the icons as well.
I might also add that I used the following fonts: Blackadder (sea), Sherwood (mountain), Morris Roman (land), Aniron (signature), and my personal runic font for the border.
