Wip WIP - Hammering out a new brush set

I spent some time working on a new brush set over the weekend. I'm liking how this is coming along.

I'm also experiementing with some coast line effects to get that hand-done hatched look but using only a few steps.
    I think I'm getting close.

I like it. Very evocative of an 18th century print.

How are you going about expediting the coasts?

Thanks! My personal goal is to facilitate folks to replicate early engraving techniques digitally. This set is based on a map from 1733.

Regarding the coast, I'll put together a tutorial when I've settled on a system that is easy to replicate. Right now it's a combo of a pattern brush, a few wave distortions, and noise.

Progress! I think I'm getting close with this set.

Here's where I ended up. (You can download the brush set—it's call Popple—and use it yourself, link in my signature.)
