New to Cartography and Map 101

Good Afternoon from USA,
I am a 'former' Home schooling mom, and really enjoy learning. I am rekindling my love of maps and map information. I came here as a last ditch effort to understand terms, cartographer understanding.

I have been interested in maps and when I was young understood how to use a map and I am usually the navigator in any group. I hope to explain maps and their legends to my grandchildren, but I would like to be clear and not 'fuzzy' in my descriptions.

I am currently using AAA maps as my teaching tool. I am hoping to find someone who understands the legends and font size descriptions. I sure appreciate all of you creative people.

Good Morning all,

I realized I didn't do a great job explaining my need and hope for some help.

I am using AAA maps to explain terms and how to read a road map. My lack is in the font sizes and what the breakdown is on the city population breakdown.

Does anyone know? Can you help me find the answers?
