Welcome, it looks like you belong very much around here - especially in the pen and paper / traditional methods section.
The aged parchment effect - is that the usual coffee / tea thing, do you use a watered down brown or do you have another special recipe ?

So I wet and very briefly cover the paper with a coffee and cinnamon paste mixed with water, and then dry in the oven. So, a little bit of my own recipe I suppose
What are you using for digital tools out of curiosity? That is more my realm so if you ever have any questions don't hesitate to reach out!

I'm using an Xp-Pen 22e pro, and the free version of sketchbook. Eventually I'd like to move to photoshop, seems like the tool with the widest uses, but she's not cheap
I personally use an IPad 11 Pro with the Procreate app, which I think is much better than Photoshop for drawing purposes. Photoshops’s brush engine leaves something to be desired in my opinion, and it’s a bit too clunky for drawing. For non-Ipad users though, I have been intrigued by Infinite Painter. I have only dabbled with it, but I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far.Thank you!

Don’t get me wrong, I use Photoshop every day for work as a graphic designer, so it’s certainly a solid program. I just think there are starting to be better options for illustrators in particular who won’t use 90% of what Photoshop can do. Plus, like you said, Photoshop is not cheap. I’d much rather spend $20 on Procreate, Infinite Painter, or Affinity than $10 a month on Photoshop.

Cool idea with the cinnamon paste, does it give a textured feel? Always good to see more traditional method homies join the ranks. Welcome!

It does, depending on how thoroughly you clean it. I just changed my process a little so that I'm pre-aging the paper, but originally I would make the map and then age the paper which was causing pretty awful ink run (possibly the pen I was using though) but with the pre-aging I no longer run into that issue. The only new problem is that now I can have a harder time getting the ink to stay, but I just got some of those archival pens and I think the right equipment should make a difference. I was using a ballpoint pen and sharpie for a long time there
