    Post Filter Forge - a few filters that might be useful

    I was peeking in on the Filter Forge website to see what was new. I'm still trying to decide whether or not it's worth the money. I happen to want the top end version, simply because of the hi-res output. Limitations like that bother me.

    Anyway, I saw a couple new textures that I thought might be interesting for mappers and decided to share.

    Holy shnikes that suburbia filter looks like it rocks. Excellent find and man I gotta have this.

    Filter Forge is a totally programmable environment too - all those are made by users - and I think they are all fully editable by users as well.

    And you can make any of them (well, that makes sense to) seamless tiles with the click of a switch.

    I had a looksee at Suburbia...seems all you can do is change colors and lighting, still pretty cool tho. Terraformer 2 looks pretty good but a lot of these things look like they're best used for pattern generation or image effects. A couple of decent parchment things as well.

    Ok, anyone volunteering to reproduce 'Suburbia' for Gimp?
    Something similar called 'High Rise' would be great. too. It's way out of my league to make anything like that, but I could definitely use it...

    As could I. I am forever searching for modern stuff. There is a total glut of fantasy stuff out there and those of us that play modern genres are left with few options.

    Too right. Top-down modern buildings seem to be a non-starter.

    Maybe we should start a sticky thread for modern textures/links. Not that I'd have much to put in it yet...

    Might work in GIMP with the PSPI plugin. I have it, and I can run both Super Blade Pro and Eye Candy 4000...

    FF also has lots of filters that can be useful in creative photo-realistic effects for a trompe l'oeil object or two on the map, like a compass rose perhaps. Lots of good glass and metal filters, and some worn paper generators too.
