Map Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria (Official Map)

    Hello Guild!

Time has come to show off the biggest project I've been working on. One that only a child could have dreamed of...
As I had the immense chance to play my part in the ever growing official Middle Earth universe!

By Aulė! This is highly difficult to realize.

About the project: The team needed one map maker that had a good knowledge about Middle Earth. They wanted the map to depict Middle Earth from the point of view of dwarves, while still maintaining the classic Middle Earth shape (no underground maps or weird projections), for the commoner to recognize it immediatly.
We imagined the map being inspired by dwarven architecture, and by some old islamic text ornaments. I added a numerous number of details and drawings dear to the dwarves: the 7 stars of the 7 dwarven kingdoms, a depiction of Khazad-Dum, the Song of Durin embedded to the frame etc.
There are multiple versions of the map: Dwarven scripts, english scripts, with and without moonrunes... Only one version is displayed here for the sake of brievity.

Anyway, this was an absolute blast to be part of such a project: knowing that I had the chance to play my part in the official Middle Earth material is... Unbelevieble.

    Thank you for reading!

This has to be my favourite of yours in a while! I love the sketchy look and the gorgeous texturing.

Thank you! I definitely felt something by going back to this sketchy look. I might be pushing things forward in that direction again

Excellent map, I always live seeing Middle Earth maps as I'm a huge fan of the franchise and we don't see many set in the fourth age.

Looks good. It“s an interesting phenomenon, that when you know the lore, the pictograms don“t need much explaining. One might even guess at some dwarvish naming of familiar places. Well done.

What a great job! Very interesting to see this famous map from the dwarves' point of view! It changes a lot of things! In any case, I completely understand your pride in being part of this magnificent universe!
