COCONUT CRABS.
Jesus I didn't know they got THAT big.
I once started writing a story (well a serial that didn't get anywhere but I still have the ideas around) where one of the characters, a Neurologist-MD/Geneticist/(Mad Doctor, spoilers~) had coconut crabs as pets. The doctor was named after an obscure French poet who had an awesome name for a neurologist (DE NERVAL, a nom de plume but still awesome), and he had a pet lobster called Thibault. The coconut crab was called Lucien. There would have been genetically modified supercrabs if I ever had got to that point, a few stories later after the first one...
Cool link. It reminded me of the Barry the Giant Sea Worm story that came out a little while ago.

re Sea Worm - Very cool!
I can't believe the comments from people who said "its ugly" they should get rid of it!
If it was 20ft and growing a foot a day I'd agree. What a compelling beastie. If it were close I'd go to see it. Doubt it do more than hide though.

I love the bit that says the sea worm is capable of inflicting permanent numbness on humans with its sting. Wow! That worm must have some Carrion Crawler blood in it.
