Help Help placing physical geography and identifying climates, please and thank you

    Hello there!

I have shared below a landmass outline for a continent on a fantasy world. What I'm looking for is some help placing the physical geography of the land (mountains, rivers, forests etc) in a realistic way and then extrapolating from this what the climates and biomes are likely to be across the region. It's a northern hemisphere landmass in an Earth-like world so my starting assumption is that it models Europe to North Africa but I'd like to be led by the realism to a healthy degree. I've added in an accurate scale bar and expect the world to be the same size as Earth, so that's easier to visualise.

I'm happy for this to be done in any software, even just annotating in Paint is fine, as I'll then build the map out in Wonderdraft myself so I can add the human geography of settlements, roads and nations.

Any guidance from anyone is hugely appreciated. I'm willing to pay for your time if you can really help me anchor this region in a realistic beginning.

    Please and thank you.

To understand well how to place mountain ranges and other features you need first to have a general idea of the planet , so you need to see the continental plaques both over and under sea , so I would sugest you to :

    A simplified guide:

1 Enlarge the map and place the other continents you want to have, you do not need to make them overdetailed but just have the basic location and shapes.
2 By the positioning of the continents you can start cutting and drawing the borders of possible plaques and define directions , friction zones so diverging and converging plaques.
3 place mountain ranges in converging borders and you can put fractures or seas or underwater rifts in diverging ones
    4 Draw the latitude lines
5 start drawing the sea currents according to a similitude to Earth ones , focus on warm currents and cold ones , those influence climatics
6 Focus just on the continent of your interest
7 check for rainshadows, humidity/dryness areas , consider hign ahd low pressure zones and then draw in the possible climates according to the Köppen classification but you can simplify it a lot just guessing by easy spotting important regions like mediterranean , desertic, jungle etc ...
    8 Finalize the rest

This is a very short guide and probably will not get you a perfect climate and feature depiction of your continent but will push you toward it .

Making a full fledged tectonics and climatology study is not an easy job and requires a lot of time and some experience, so you could expect not to have a small cost for this, but eventually with the small guide above you can draw one yourself as this seems your main desire by what I have read.

I'd be glad to help, but you're asking for a fairly significant amount of work if you're wanting "realistic" geography. I'd probably quote you around $50 for my own work, can't say how much others would charge.

You can take a look at my existing work if interested
