Discuss Best current tools for town and village map making?

Years ago, I used Campaign Cartographer 3, which I liked but found very complicated to make nice looking maps.
I used Inkwell Ideas Citiographer to quickly generate maps. They were not great looking, but functional and would randomly generate occupants of building, price lists for shops, etc.
I've played with Dungeon Alchemist, but really am not a fan of the 3D look and don't find it useful for whole towns.
    Started playing with Inkarnate.
Just wondering what folk's suggestions are for making simple to mildly complicated villages and towns that is on the less technical side.

I think Inkarnate is the most popular for cities but i spretty limiting stylistically. Wonderdraft or dungeondraft are also good if you use custom assets (see cartographyassets.com). The best option though is probably a drawing program, like Photoshop or Gimp (that is what I typically use) since it gives you maximum flexibility for creativity.
