Post October Entry - Martian Milk Run

This is a fun little map for the challenge.

Selling colloidal suspended animal fats dome to dome is not for the faint of heart, especially in the Martian hinterlands.

What, between trammels, steep grades, and residual radiation from the abandoned Stravinov Dome, a trader has to plot a careful route, taking into account terrain, politics, and a good appreciation for Hunan food. If it wasn't for the checkpoints along the way, and Control tracking my every step, I could roll into one of the Krenshaw crevasses and never be heard from again. I'll tel you though, the real trick is minimizing the H2 burn on Control's behalf while still making those "personal" deliveries between the domes that pad my pockets...

Nifty. I really like the planet surface texture. Very nice effect there. Why not reddish? Also, are the compounds listed in cargo actually milk products? Nice touch.

    Nooooobody expects the Chemistry Inquisition!!!

They seem to be a long list of carboxylic acids. Can't tell you for sure if they turn up in milk but all of the molecules are too small to be lactose I would have thought, since sucrose has 22 Carbons in it...

*wanders off to find the chemical compounds in milk...*

Lets just say that my chemistry suspicions were WELL founded...

If you want to have your milk with CH3(CH2)2COOH, then the easiest way is to drink it on an empty stomach and then force yourself to vomit. You will enjoy the familiar smell of CH3(CH2)2COOH... otherwise known as Butyric Acid AKA "vomit smell" or Bile....

So no, probably not milk products... (but the suspension information is probably fairly likely since milk is basically a bunch of microscopic particles of fats and sugars floating in water)

I actually got the chemical list from this page http://www.ilri.org/InfoServ/Webpub/...kchemistry.htm under Table 2, Principal fatty acids found in milk triglycerides.

And hey, I failed organic chemistry the first time I took it

Anyway - a bit of an update. Since I said it was mars, why not red! And since I said it was a working map, why not a bit (lot?) of grunge.

    C&C Appreciated!
