Ok after seeing what you guys can do i have down loaded Gimp my self, already confused but hay we will see what i can do lol

I more or less did the same; except gimp comes with ubuntu.. so I didn't had to download it seperately
It is a scary application at first, like any large one.. but the tutorials here are top-notch! Should get you started in no time at all.

Keep at it. Once you get over the initial learning curve, you'll be laughing. The GIMP site has some good tutorials covering the basic stuff.

Hi, I started out with Paint, too. The biggest problems I found with Gimp were getting used to the concept of layers, and actually drawing anything from scratch.

Gimp is great for 'colouring in', but it's hopelessly complicated to draw simple geometric shapes - I decided to totally forget drawing deckplans with Gimp.

I use Inkscape for sketching shapes and then texture the stuff in Gimp. It's the vector/raster thing.
