... "working on a map by hand" .... not that I'm TRYING to torpedo my own entry, but we do happen to have a competition going this month
specifically for hand-drawn maps. Interested?

Well as the topic goes...
Hello! The name's Caleb, and I've always been fascinated by maps ever since I was a kid. It was one of three things I love among Dragons and Games. You can probably already tell that it lead me to Dungeon and Dragons early on and I've been diving back into it as of late.
As far as I can remember, i always loved maps, drawing them, collecting them or looking at them and creating stories and stratagems from them. I just found this place today when I was browsing for map makers like myself. Though i'm not of a professional grade, I'm definitely an avid hobbyist. I'm currently working on a map by hand. Started off as a sketch and it just grew. Hopefully I'll have something of it done so I can run it through a scanner and show my progress.
Hope to settle in and meet a great many of friends here!

Thank you! and I am interested actually, where would the details be for the said competition? And specifically when is the map has to be submitted by? If it's soon, I best get hurrying! Haha.
In the Current Lite Mapping Challenge forum, see the thread for this month. Go up a level in the forum hierarchy and see some of the general info about the competitions - like 'new work only' f'rinstance. Look through the archived past competitions to get an idea how things roll. One tidbit is that people like to see your progress as you go - easier in a pure digital competition, true, but if you can scan something for the final version in this one, surely you could also scan intermediate steps? <said he who posted one early start piece and hasn't filled in any subsequent efforts in the last week - go figure>

Great! I just read up on it and I'm definitely going to be joining in! Ill be taking a picture of the current work i have right now, and get it going! I think I can hit the deadline with no problem! Plus I always wondered what people would say in constructive criticism or otherwise about how I do my maps!
And thanks tilt!
