    Default Odvaha sky (star map)

When I first joined this forum I posted a thread about star maps and I said that someday I wanted to do one. Today is that someday!

The red cloud is called the fire river, in Odvaha mythology it is the fire river of heaven. Only the worthy and pure people will able to cross its burning stream and enter into paradise. It's light also reflects off the moon therefore their moon has an orange glow.

I wanted to give the constellations more artistic names but I felt like that overcomplicated it so I went with literal names. The text around the rim of the map, phase 1-12 are the phases of the moon aka months. There are three clusters, thirty-five constellations, and seven of those are zodiac constellations.

As always all comments are appreciated

the first thumbnail has text that has full opacity, the second one is slightly faded.

Sky maps have a special place in my heart.

... I like the faded text better.

    Gorgeous!

Wow, that is awesome work. I'm no astronomer and so can't vouch for the 'veracity' of the layout, but it works for me. Looks very authentic and 'in-world'. Have some rep.

Very fine map! Celestial maps are quite difficult to do imo and you've done it very well.
Like Jalyha, I prefer the faded text version.

Very cool! You always think outside the box, that's awesome I like the faded text better, too. The blue is very strong and doesn't show the aging of the paper, that looks a little odd to me, and the seasons font seems very squished together… Otherwise, a great and inspirational star map!

    Thanks everyone!

@Lingon: I'll see what I can do to fix the text and I'll try to get some of the aged paper texture into the blue as well.

I faded the blue background worked on the season text. I also made symbols for the zodiac constellations which I added onto the map next to their corresponding signs.
